What is a computer “trick” that in the past was cool, but today is unimpressive and trivial?

Answer by Anoop George Jacob:

Some of the coolest things that I can remember

1) Sending mp3s from my computer to my pal's ( who lived 20kms away) using Hyperterminal

2) Receiving and running an executable from the same pal only to find out my harddisk has been erased as it was a virus

3) opening and connecting turbo setting on the same pal's PC only to have smoke coming from the circuit šŸ˜›

4) Typing like a boss, not looking at the keyboard

5) Plug'n'Play CDROM

6) Installing a modem in the computer on my own.

7) The turbo button on the front panel that overclocked my computer from 100mhz to 133mhz šŸ™‚

8) CD/MD/RD

9) Copying Duke nukem from a pal's computer using 25 of these

10) Instant inefficient CD cover from 5 1/4 inch floppy disks

11) Changing the loading screen to something like this and feeling on top of the world

12) Compressing the root drive (c:) to 'increase' harddisk space only to have it not boot again šŸ˜›

13) messing around in REGEDIT and deleting the recyclebin, changing the start button etc šŸ™‚

14) Switching between master and slave on hardisk jumpers

What is a computer "trick" that in the past was cool, but today is unimpressive and trivial?
